WIP: Threat Approaching, Boss Battle Imminent....
I know, I'm still on the mecha kick, but this thing has no brakes. I started trying to make the original Jovian Chronicles Dragonstriker, a boss mecha from one of the two Mekton-era modules, but, as with other models, it has since morphed into an updated neo-version of itself.
I've also dabbled a bit in FFG X-Wing style rules for the old JC stuff, as there is no good mecha combat system currently in existence. Behold:
For those not in the know, the Pathfinder is sort of the baseline Jovian hero mecha.
And the Wyvern is its burly tyrannical Earth nemesis. Resemblences are intentional, as JC was cooked up as a not-Gundam Gundam game, and the art was largely based on Gaia Gear. If you don't know what that is, Google it. It's Gundam with the Sci-Fi knob turned up to eleven. Beautiful stuff. Seriously.
I can hear you 40kers breathing out there. There's lots for you too when this is over.
It'll be done when it's done.
Happy Saturday, people.

WIP's 2......
I suppose I should stop building and start painting, but this train has no brakes. I've been making minis of models I want but have no space for.
He doesn't seem to know the meaning of the word "restraint" either.
Battletech has no sniper rifles and is the only tabletop mecha game on the market (Yes, I know about Infinity) so I'm going to gin up some home-brew rules.
Mechs don't have weapon storage racks either. I suppose you just buy the weapon and go from there.
His fucking enormous cannon. You know, for one-shotting... er.... battleships. He carries a lot of armmo for it in that drum. Not accurate, I know, but I was in the zone, and it looks great.
Under it all, he's an MWO Thunderbolt. I should do something decorative to the back plate, probably.
Kagutsuchi Otsu (Fencer), the other specialist type. The actual plamo kit has an even larger hand weapon. The best approximation I could find was the big ugly claw gatling I had extras of from my FW AdMech robots. I like it because he doesn't have to drop it to draw a rifle like the original does, he just levels it and fires off a burst. His armor skirts are heavier because he's a hand-to-hand fighter.
I should probably cover up the missile holes so his gatling ammo doesn't fall out. Those missile boxes are from a MWO Catapult.
Till next time....
Agni from Armored Core Verdict Day. He's heavily armed because... well, he's an Armored Core. Yes, that's a MWO Dragon under there. With Cyclops legs.

Kagutsuchi Otsu (Sniper) from Frame Arms. What's that off-screen?

(X-Wing) Flagship WIP #2
Getting there, getting there. Now with an A-Wing for scale.
She has a real hard-weathered, acid-washed look to her, like someone's been parking her somewhere nasty. I suppose, dating from the Clone Wars, she wasn't going to be new and shiny.

X-Wing Flagship WIP's
Yes, my desk is a shambles. Yes, the lighting is terrible. Yes, those are Tau burst cannons acting as anti-ship turrets.
Yes, those AA guns are from Vanguard miniatures. Yes, they are on the top and bottom of the hinges.
Yes, she is rather long. Yes, I forgot to put an A-Wing fighter in there for scale. Yes, that is Vash the Stampede in the background.
Yes, she is a bit blotchy; you would be too if you survived a Clone War. Yes, those nubs are life pods.

Desktop Wars, Chapter XVI: Overkill
"I swear, you guys! I'll have your money tomorrow!"
The backlog of stuff to feature grows larger, so here's WIP to show you where I am. Of course instead of mass-painting the Genestealer Cult I delved into the Deathwatch. Being unique and covered in fiddly detail, they took forever.
More to come...

Rise of the Black Knight Part II: Getting there, getting there....
Things continue apace, which is good, because I have a bunch of AdMech stuff just sitting in boxes waiting for assembly. Weathering like this actually goes faster then the Weathered Penny technique, for some reason. Maybe it's because of the Ghost Arks and all their little crevices, maybe because after doing it so much I'm faster at it now. Anyway, still haven't figured out his heraldry yet. The way his shoulder plates look, it'd be a shame to just put a wet-transfer decal on there.
Maybe I'll do something by hand...

Halfway through the factory....
Now all he needs is some armor, and I'm torn between Mechanicus red and Freeblade something else.
And I'm in search of a new blog template, because this thing needs a facelift. So, if anyone sees anything cool, do point it out.
Happy Wednesday, people.

The Factory's open again....
Well, really, the factory never closed, but I took a break from doing things for a while, an when I felt like it again, I opened up some new projects. The Necron army still needs some bits and bobs, so I finished a second Triarch stalker kit and started on another Grievous-sized general. Up there's his rifle/scythe. If you seen the new Apocalypse
The other WIP is a gaggle of Crypteks. I already have two prototypes paint, so there'll be a total of ten. I figured I'd do one or two of each discipline (there are ten) with glowy staves that color-coordinate to each. I'm still on the fence as to whether to convert up some orks to hold objectives for me. Might have to sell off a fantasy army to justify that first.
As to other projects down the line we'll see. I do sort of want an Avenger fighter to run interference for my Vendettas, but on the other hand it might be nice to have two gunships supporting the marines instead of just the one...
Happy Sunday, people.

WIP: Mortarion....
Let's be clear, I hate, hate, hate the Nurgle aesthetic and everything to do with it. However, a Primarch with a big bloody scythe who breathes toxic gas to live is pretty damn cool. Uriel came from Kabuki Miniatures with a big spear and a tiny head, and, having no use for that, I decided to make a Mortarion.
More to come.
Happy Monday, people.

WIP: A new whip for an old army.....
Just a quick WIP of Ghost Ark #1 today. I'm still trying to decide whether or not I like the "old penny" paint scheme; it doesn't quite have that "fresh out of the sand" thing going for it. I may need to use some actual sand.....
